**2010-2011 Summer Assignments**
If you are signed up to take one of the following courses in Social Studies next school year, you need to either see the teacher or click onto the teacher's page above to get your summer assignment BEFORE the summer vacation begins:
10th Grade -- A.P. World History -- Mr. Aube 11th Grade -- A.P. United States History -- Mr. Willis 12th Grade -- A.P. European History -- Mr. Divis
If you have any questions or problems, please e-mail the teacher or see the guidance department. The summer assignment is a mandatory pre-requisite for taking each course and is due on the first day of class.
Interested in EXTRA CREDIT?
Also, ALL students enrolled in a Social Studies class 1st semester will be given EXTRA CREDIT if they enter the Literary Kick-Off Student Competition. Bio: Mr. Divis has been teaching Social Studies at BFUHS since 2004. With a B.S. in Secondary Social Studies Education from Miami University, including minors in History and Political Science, Mr. Divis has a sincere interest in World History, specifically German, Russian, and Chinese history. Outside the classroom at BFUHS, Mr. Divis also coaches Varsity Girls Tennis, as well as the Scholars' Bowl team. Mr. Divis was honored as the 2010 Vermont Teacher of the Year! Outside of school hours, he enjoys reading, hiking (Mt. Kilimanjaro in July 2008), traveling, and listening to music (The Eclectic Envoy -- Monday's 4:30-6pm on WOOL 100.1 FM). Cheers!

Bio: Matt Willis was born and raised in Springfield, VT. He graduated from Siena College in 1997, receiving a degree in American Studies. He then gained his teaching certificate from the Upper Valley Teacher Institute and has spent the last ten years teaching history at Bellows Falls Union High School. In his free time, Matt enjoys playing and watching sports.

Bio: I have been teaching Social Studies at BFUHS since 2004. I graduated from Keene State College with a B.A. in Social Science, with my primary specialization in History and a secondary specialization in Geography. With that, I also received certification to teach in both New Hampshire and Vermont. My roots are tied to the Great North Woods of Berlin, New Hampshire. Here at school, I am the student council advisor, an avid member of the Freshman Academy, and the Varsity Girls Basketball coach. I am also the 2006 and 2008 BFUHS Chili Cook-off Champ. Outside of school I spend my time watching New England sports with primary focuses on the Sox and Pats.

Bio: I was just recently hired to teach at Bellows Falls Union High School this past summer. Prior to coming to Vermont, I lived in Rhode Island where I grew up. Both prior to and while attending college, I was the office manager at a bimetal factory in Johnston, RI. I have attended several colleges, ranging from the Community College of Rhode Island, the University of New Mexico, and later graduated from Rhode Island College with my B.A. in Social Studies Secondary Education. I am certified to teach in both Rhode Island and Vermont. I enjoy a number of hobbies, such as cooking, soap making, hiking with my puppies, and World Building.
