Susan Steiner-  Science Teacher

In the State of Vermont, Susan is certified as a Highly Qualified Teacher of the Sciences.  Ms. Steiner began teaching at Bellows Falls in 2002. Since this time she has taught biology, honors biology, AP biology, environmental science, chemistry, forensics, earth science, climate & weather, mapping & orienteering, and an independent marine biology course. In 2004, Ms. Steiner created and taught the high schools first AP science course in Biology. Upon completing the College Board’s auditing process two years later, she became an AP Course Audit – authorized teacher.

Susan enjoys getting involved in education endeavors. She has served as a State of Vermont Network Leader since 2006 and has worked with other educators in coding the Vermont State Grade Expectations. Last summer she accompanied other educators in Rhode Island who were selected to complete standard setting for the State’s NECAP testing of the Sciences. Ms. Steiner claims that this experience has broadened her understanding of the varying proficiency levels of students. In her spare time, she takes pleasure in picture taking, kayaking and gardening. She claims that her Feng shui gardening practices yield a good harvest.  Click here (link under construction, check back soon!) to see pictures of her Feng shui garden.
